CAPE OF GOOD HOPE
– Rose Murray Brown, The Scotsman, 13 June 2009

“ CHARDONNAY 2006: Ripe lemon/lime bouquet with toasty undertones, very rich succulent full fruit palate, lush textured, complex oak notes and a lingering savoury finish – delicious in its rich mouthfilling fruit style.”

“... CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2005: Vanilla, spice and cassis notes, a restrained, sinewy structure that fleshes out mid- palate to a very lush rounded Cape cabernet – shows good potential “

“... Journey’s End is still an estate in the making, but has already made a name for itself for its chardonnay-the first white wine new release ever to be awarded five stars from John Platter- and its first vintage of cabernet sauvignon was served to first - class passengers with BA.”

Harpers Wine & Spirit, 16 June 2009

“ Journey’s End Cape Doctor Shiraz 2005: Developing nicely, with leather and spice, hinting at Hermitage, the power on the palate gradually revealing itself. Good meaty character- a great wine.”

South Africa turns the on-trade table
– Tom Bruce-Gardyne, Harpers Wine & Spirit, 16 June 2009

“ With South Africa thirsty for a greater share of restaurant wine list Tom Bruce-Gardyne speaks to an increasing roll call of big hitters who are firmly behind the country’s wines ...

...Vivat Bacchus was launched in 2003 in London’s Farringdon with a list that now stretches to around 550 wines of which 60% are South African...

... For most restaurateurs, the question is whether to increase the small number of South Africans on their list to show some lesser known and perhaps more expensive wine ...

... For Gabb it is a question of education. “I’ll spend three days a week out in the trade talking to waiters and sommeliers. From our side it’s very much about picking the restaurants that are open – minded and can see the real benefits ...”
