JOURNEY’S END ENDS 2010 ON A HONG KONG HIGH

Boutique winery Journey’s End, situated on the slopes of the famous Schaapenberg Hills above Sir Lowry’s Pass Village, has triumphed at the 2010 Cathy Pacific Hong Kong International Wine Awards. The winery, renowned for its exciting wines, scooped two trophies, for Best Merlot on Show and Best South African Red on Show, and four further medals.

Rollo Gabb, Marketing Director at Journey’s End, comments, “Everyone at the winery was delighted to hear that we had received these awards at the Hong Kong International Wine Awards. It’s great to receive this recognition for so many of our wines. 2010 has been a phenomenal year for Journey’s End and our wines have done well at a number of wine shows.  We’re really looking forward to 2011 as we have more exceptional wines to release and we hope they too will be as popular with critics and consumers alike.”

The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition is the only truly Asian competition designed specifically for the tastes and consumption preferences of the Asian market. Now in its second year following a hugely successful inaugural competition in 2009, the objective of the competition is simple - to provide wine lovers in the region the opportunity to explore and enjoy wines and spirits and to help the trade showcase their products in the world's most dynamic market.

The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition saw a top class panel of Asia’s most esteemed judges from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan assemble to acknowledge some of the world’s best wines. And Tim Atkins MW, well known British journalist and wine judge was this year’s Guest International Chair of Judges. Categories were judged by country, region, variety and style, as well as a world-first Chinese food-and-wine-pairing category, and trophies awarded reflected the unique sensibilities of the Asian palate.
